Purposeful Design I have had my eye on this piece of furniture for a couple years. I pulled the trigger on the purchase on 1/1/13 when I found out it was manufactured by Hammacher Schlemmer, a reputable company. My order was accepted and I promptly received a Back Order notice that the item was unavailable until late February (over 50-days). I had already decided that I wanted it and had already waited two years to order it so I figured I could wait another 50-days. It arrived on March 11, after I received a couple of friendly post cards asking if I still wanted it to which I responded in the affirmative. I like the piece. I bought it for my office where I have several books, magazines, knife, paper & pen, and a radio on a horizontal antique picnic table bench -- nice but taking up way too much space.The assembly instructions were adequate and assembly was a good and uneventful experience. However, I needed to vacuum up lots of tiny styrofoam beads that went everywhere when I unpack the pieces. The unit looks pretty good but there are two blemishes in the finish that disappointed me. I expect wood to have grain issues as wood can be variable. However, there are two spots where the finish is knicked down to some white sub surface. The shipping container was adequate so I can only assume the unit was shipped this way. Although these blemishes are small, they were on exposed surfaces and they bothered me enough that I ended up putting the piece in a different location. Lastly, I have yet to receive the unsolicited 10% credit that SkyMall generously offered to give me for being a patient customer. March 19, 2013

Bedtime Reader's Nightstand I am happy with the nightstand.....perfect height; providing efficient division for reading material. I would have appreciated better instructions for assembly but my essential reason for the purchase has been met. August 30, 2010
Why Did I Wait? My papers, books and magazines are now arranged and easy to find. This shelf looks great, is sturdy and fits perfectly next to my bed. My laptop fits perfectly on the top. Love it! July 8, 2010
