Garden Groom Pro 3.3 5 3 3
Can't live without it! I own two of these and they just came out with a smaller hand held size that will be prefect for fine tuning topiaries, etc. I had to write after I read the previous review. I'm not sure what they use this for, but I use it for trimming and shaping my Boxleaf Euonymus hedges (similar to boxwood, but grows a lot faster). I have A LOT of hedges to keep trimmed in both the front and back yard. I have a French style landscape that is high maintenance, and before I purchased this item, I trimmed everything with handheld shears and the cleanup was atrocious. Yes, the item is a bit heavy, and depending on the user's personal strength, I can see how it may be too heavy for some. If that's the case, I would recommend the smaller, lighter model--it still does the trick. It cuts a beautiful level crisp hedge--of course it is up to the user to make that happen by guiding the equipment through the cut. On the sides, I basically just let it hang from one hand and slowly swing it back and forth and this does the trick. I've also found that tying the large handle (the part in the picture above that is being held with the model's right hand) so that I don't have to manually squeeze it once the power switch is on allows for more freedom of movement. I have also found that it helps to loop the extention cord and attached plug through the handle being held by the model's left hand to keep it from dangling and getting in the way. I actually accidentally cut the bag the second time I used it, and found it a bit too awkward, so now just use the plastic attached container, as shown above, and keep my flexible nylon garden "trash container" near by and empty as needed. Prior to purchasing, it literally took me all day to do both my front and back yard between the hedging and the clean-up. It now only takes maybe two hours or less, and my back is a bit sore, but nothing like it was before. Plus, it is so easy to pull out and take care of stragglers in between major work. Too heavy The garden pro is too heavy to handle. It didn't do the job. Chewed up even very small branches.Did not do a clean cut. Leaves clogged in tube, never made it to bag.Gave up after one hour. June 12, 2010
Great product. Had been backordered, so I could not use it much. Before this I tried my neigbors. November 1, 2009
