Artist John Stephens graduated from Dartmouth College as fine arts major and began his painting career in 1974. His art has been displayed in art galleries and museums across the United States and Europe, and his work is held in the permanent collection of the Flemming Museum at the University of Vermont in Burlington. John's early career found him working intensively for large New York publishing firms, including Simon and Schuster, St. Martins Press, and Ballantine; he also created art works for Star Trek and best-selling authors Tom Clancy and Peter Benchley. The late nineties found John heavily involved with commercial projects, mainly resort development and architectural renderings. Recent years have allowed John to shift back to his primary passion of painting with the message: "The world is always much greater than it appears".
