Expecting another 20 yrs of use I've been searching for two years for a bathrobe for my husband to rival the one I gave him in 1993. The old one is a bit snug --through no fault of its own. It has finally begun fraying at the collar, cuffs and along the sides of the belt; otherwise, it's still in good shape. So, the new robe had a tough act to follow. During my search, I have purchased two robes and was disappointed both times. One (navy blue) shed so much, it started discoloring the carpet, despite repeated washing. I gave up and sent it back before my carpet was irrevocably marred. The second (white) was ungenerous in overall size and weight. I continued searching, reading reviews, etc. I had not actively searched for several months when I found the Hammacher Schlemmer offering in the SkyMall mag. Because I am familiar with the brand, I ordered it for hubby's birthday. It took longer than I liked to receive it (was back-ordered), but it was worth the wait. It is roomy and plush. I put it on and felt like I was being embraced. It is so thick! It weighs a ton dry; it is super absorbent. This is not a robe for the weak. And it is definitely not for lounging by the pool in the hot sun. The construction is meticulous and the seams are finished beautifully. I expect it will last as long as his other (20 yrs). Kudos to Hammacher Schlemmer on a great item! I have not laundered it. If necessary, I will update this review. May 3, 2013

Robe I had been wanting one such robe for many years but didn't feel the price justified my desire. Bit the bullet, ordered and received my package within 4 days -- wrapped in beautiful box, with tissue paper and in a wonderful, white cotton bag with logo on it. The robe is beautiful, warm, cozy and comforting. Truly a "high class" company with high class standards and excellent customer service skills. March 25, 2013
