This is a heavy, well built, good looking media cabinet that fit perfectly in my space. We got the walnut finished version and although the surface is artificial, it looks very authentic. The five black inset panels break up the front and look nice. The top opens to give access to the upper storage area and is nicely spring-balanced. A key lock is provided to protect your "treasures" from others. There are three shelves in the lower storage area broken up into three segments each. They are spaced to hold every kind of media. Each door has three storage shelves that are sized to hold either CDs or VHS tapes.
All of my cons are picky but it isn't perfect. First, it is about the most complicated piece of furniture I have ever assembled; consisting of 20 parts and 26 different kinds of hardware. It took several hours to finish. The hardest part was separating and identifying the different pieces of hardware. They could do a better job of identifying the different screw lengths. The shelves in the lower storage area are supported in four places but the supports on each end kept falling out. I finally glued them in place. Each storage shelf on the doors has a wire retainer across the front to keep CDs or tapes from falling off the shelf when the door is closed. The wire retainer is adjustable in two positions for either CDs or tapes. I chose to position the retainer for CDs and glue it in place so CDs wouldn't fall out. Again, these are "picky" cons that most people could live with.
Description is misleading. Doesn't hold all listed
there are many reasons why i would not recommend this cabinet for purchase. first and foremost was the amount of work involved in constructing this cabinet. in the ad it says "easy assembly". i am handy and this project was anything but easy.
second, the actual materials are cheap and shoddy, like the shelves the dvd's rest on and the thin flimsy metal bars used as braces. this cabinet should be priced at $99.00 not $250.00. lastly, the cherry color in no way matches the cherry color shown in the catalog. if i knew the real color i would have ordered the black color. overall, i would not recommend this product for purchase to anyone i know.
The merchandise is of acceptable quality. It was one of the hardest things to put together that I've ever had.
